SRI Editorial Board

We are looking for stories that will bring SRI practices and principles to life.  Submissions might challenge and provoke new thinking, introduce a new practice or initiate an exchange of ideas and experiences around shared dilemmas. They may also share and celebrate success or perhaps highlight challenges and shortfalls that we can learn from.  The work of SRI is complex and we don’t always completely meet our hoped-for outcomes. It is the striving toward success that creates hope and durability of our efforts, and offers opportunity for fruitful learning.

Interested but not sure how to proceed?  Here are resources to inspire and support you to tell the most compelling and rich stories possible:

SRI Documents
It may be helpful to read through the SRI Mission Statement, Equity Statement and Theory of Action prior to submitting. These documents offer a summary of SRI’s stance and approach to living its mission of creating communities fiercely committed to educational equity and excellence.

How the Editorial Process Works.

The Editorial Board is here to support your success throughout the submission, revision, and publication process. Members of the group have experience in research, the creative arts, editing for publication, and giving and receiving feedback. They aim to give productive and timely feedback on content, grammar, structure, organization and format, and help ready submissions for publication.

Our goal for the editorial process is to produce a powerful, readable, high quality submission that shares your experience and insight, furthers SRI’s mission and is appropriate for an audience of SRI affiliates.

The process:  When you submit a piece for consideration, you will be assigned a managing editor who will work with you through the publication process.  It is possible that your submission may undergo some editing.  You will communicate directly with the editor(s) reviewing your work.  For some submissions, a second editor with particular experience or point of view might be added to make sure the feedback is as helpful and relevant as possible. Editors will make recommendations regarding publication of submissions; however SRI retains ultimate decision making about the publication of any submission.

You are encouraged to use various formats and styles.  When appropriate, the Chicago Manual of Style will serve as a general guideline for written work. Technical guidelines can be found here
