Kari Thierer has been actively involved in supporting K-12 schools throughout the United States for over 17 years. Most recently, she was the National Director of School & Network Support for Big Picture Learning, an innovative organization dedicated to supporting all students through a highly personalized and relevant curriculum. Kari believes that all students deserve a rigorous education that prepares them for their dream post-high school path. Her experience ranges from classroom teaching and curriculum development for individual schools and districts, to working in partnerships with foundations and school networks to demonstrate innovative school designs and curriculum practices. Kari is fiercely dedicated to insuring that all students and families are supported in their education endeavors and believes that teachers hold the key to student success. She is committed to working with organizations to demonstrate ways to support positive student outcomes, while also informing and pushing for education policy changes at the district, state and federal level.
Kari has a Master’s Degree in Education Administration. She resides in Olympia, WA with her husband and daughter. When she isn’t reading, she enjoys learning about and practicing small-scale sustainable farming, and enjoying the outdoors.
