What an exciting time of transition and opportunity this is for SRI. Last August, the Board shared the news that our current Executive Director, Kari Thierer, is stepping down. We also announced a search process for our next Executive Director.
We received more than 80 applications from individuals representing a range of fields including education, psychology, engineering, higher education, public policy, government, social justice non-profits and more.
Six current Board members — Carrie Brennan, Raquel Diaz, Jeffrey Gallaise, Niya Randall, Gillian Smith and myself — along with former Board Chair, Kevin Fahey, served on a sub-committee charged with reviewing all applications, selecting candidates for initial interviews, conducting those interviews and recommending a list of finalists for the full Board’s consideration.
The Board is excited to announce that three outstanding finalists have been selected.
All three candidates will attend Fall Meeting in San Antonio next month as participants in order to experience directly what SRI is all about. In addition, you will have specific opportunities to learn more about and hear directly from the finalists.
First, you can meet and interact with the candidates over breakfast on Friday at 7:30 a.m. Then on Saturday at our annual Meeting of the Organization from 1:00-3:00, each finalist with give a 20-minute presentation to share who they are, what they would bring to SRI, and their vision for SRI’s short- and long-term future. Each presentation will be followed by 10 minutes for questions. We value your feedback and will gather your written comments after both events.
If you are unable to attend Fall Meeting this year, you can join both conversations virtually as part of a webinar. Register to attend the Friday Breakfast with Candidates and register to attend Saturday’s Meeting of the Organization so that you can watch the candidates’ presentations remotely and share online feedback.
The Board will meet with each candidate for final interviews on Sunday, November 11 and hopes to make a decision soon after.
