Mission Statement: The School Reform Initiative creates transformational learning communities fiercely committed to educational equity and excellence.
SRI promotes educational equity with the goal of ensuring that the learning of every child in every school is fostered. This vision of robust, equitable schools is realized by supporting and promoting the learning of educators in intentional, reflective learning communities. As educators’ collaborative learning moves from improving educational practices toward questioning whether those practices benefit every student, it becomes transformational.
History
The School Reform Initiative began 15 years ago as part of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University. Two years ago, the organization re-configured itself as a stand-alone nonprofit. Today the School Reform Initiative is an independent, professional development organization bringing the concepts and strategies of self-transforming practice to classrooms, schools and districts throughout the United States and abroad.
