November 2, 2017
Greetings from Atlanta,
We wish you were here! While we know not everyone can join us in person, we hope you are able to share in the learning virtually. Be sure to check out the Facebook group and follow us on Twitter – using the hashtag #srifm17.
We opened Fall Meeting with a spoken word piece by CREATE students and teachers, and were welcomed by Niya Randall and CREATE staff. Our opening keynote was delivered by Taiwo Demola, followed by an interactive experience with Fearless Dialogues animators (video/audio to come). We were charged for our work in Collaborative Learning Groups by Beth Graham, and our Fall Meeting facilitators guided learning in these smaller groups for the rest of the morning and into the afternoon.
Fall Meeting is the perfect place to focus on our fierce commitment to educational equity and excellence. Keep an eye out for more sharing from Atlanta!
Don’t Forget – SRI Board Election Closes Tomorrow (Friday) at Midnight
Voting is open now through midnight on November 3, 2017. This year the SRI Board is seeking four members who have (1) considerable experience with, (2) a strong commitment to, and (3) a positive record of working with schools and students around educational equity and excellence. We are looking for colleagues who have worked in transformative ways, particularly with students of color as well as students with language diversity. SRI hopes to increasingly focus on issues of school transformation, especially around issues of educational equity, and our new members will be able to help advance this important goal.
