SRI Board Election results – 3 New Board Members

Dear Colleagues,

As you know, we have just completed our second election cycle – another step toward our stated goal of having a completely elected board by January, 2014. Last year, we developed a succession plan that articulates the moves we’ll make to get there, and so the election we have just concluded affirms both the goal and its attainment.

In our hope and aim to be a diverse board, we sought male candidates for this year’s board election, and were heartened and elated to receive over 20 nominations, which yielded a field of nine candidates, any and all of whom would have been extraordinary additions to the board.

We are proud to announce the three new SRI Board members, elected by SRI affiliates:

  • Tarrence “Tarrey” Banks – Indianapolis, IN
  • Kevin Fahey – Gloucester, MA
  • Mark Otto – New York, NY

Their positions on the SRI Board are take effect immediately and their first board meeting will be this Sunday, January 15th.   We wish to thank departing members:

  • Daniel Baron – Bloomington, IN
  • Frances Hensley – Athens, GA
  • Steven Strull – East Rockaway, NY

for their service as founding board members. Individually and collectively, Frances, Steven and Daniel have helped forge the core of SRI and guided and shaped our organization in ways that are profound and immeasurable.

Thank you to all the voting affiliates for using your voices and taking ownership of our organization, as citizens of the School Reform Initiative.

Sincerely,
Teri Schrader
on behalf of SRI Board
