Disrupting Inequities: A Call for Interruption and Transformation Webinar

You are invited to join Dr. Greg Peters, the Executive Director of SF-CESS and one of the Denver Winter Meeting opening keynote speakers, as he leads a webinar titled Disrupting Inequities: A call for Interruption and Transformation. In this webinar, participants will be introduced to a framework for identifying and interrupting educational inequities by engaging in the work of transformation for both individuals and communities. As such, participants will be asked to consider the connection between their own identities and the experiences of the students influenced by their work.

This is a free event, taking place Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 12:00-1:30 Pacific Time. Interested in attending? Register here.

Final Call – Volunteers Needed for Board Nomination Committee

When the founding members of the board of directors opened the doors of the School Reform Initiative in the fall of 2009, they were committed to creating and sustaining a mission-driven organization. Since then, SRI has continued to develop processes and opportunities for transparency and shared leadership of our governance. As we prepare to launch our 2017 election, we are looking for volunteers to help with the process of nomination of board members.

The nominating committee has three tasks:

  • To support the nomination process and encourage members of the SRI community to be candidates in the annual election;
  • To accept nominations on behalf of the SRI board from the field;
  • To support nominated candidates with the application process, helping them both with the technical side of the application, but also to fully understand the role of board members.

The nominating committee will meet initially in March to discuss the process and timeline, and to schedule our work. It is our hope to have a field of candidates finalized by mid-September, with voting opening in October and closing at our annual Fall Meeting in Atlanta, November 4th, 2017. New members will be officially seated at the December board of directors meeting.

We are seeking 4-6 SRI affiliates to join this committee. We hope you will consider serving as a member of the nominating committee. Please note that by serving on the nominating committee you are not eligible to run as a candidate in this election.

If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee, please contact Kari (kari@schoolreforminitiative.org) by March 15th.

ATLAS Protocols Spotlight

At the SRI National Office, we have begun to track our web and social media data more closely, including tracking protocol downloads. As of February 2017, ATLAS Looking at Data was the #1 downloaded protocol. Check out both ATLAS protocols: ATLAS Looking at Data and ATLAS Learning From Student Work
