Retreat for SRI Affiliates Involved with Pre-Service Teacher Education

Registration is now open for the SRI Pre-Service Teacher Education Retreat being held at Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center in Estes Park, CO. The dates of the retreat are June 27-28, 2016 (Monday/Tuesday).

This retreat is designed for SRI affiliates who have been working to incorporate SRI principles and practices within their pre-service teacher education and licensure programs. These include both traditional university-based programs, as well as alternative licensure programs. Participants should have familiarity with the core principles of SRI critical friendship and have some experience utilizing these tools within a pre-service education capacity.

Call for Proposals – CES Fall Forum

The workshop proposal submission deadline is June 9, 2016.  Early submissions are strongly encouraged. Workshop facilitators selected and notified by June 16, 2016.

CES is inviting two types of proposals for workshops: (1) Three-hour, in-depth workshops on particular practices or strategies. These will take place during the morning of Friday, December 2. (2) 90-minute workshops on particular practices or strategies. These will take place during the morning of Saturday, December 3.

All selected workshops facilitators will receive free registration to Fall Forum 2016, limited to two per workshop. Unfortunately, CES cannot offer additional fee waivers for workshops facilitated by more than two people.

Successful workshop proposals will include: Clearly stated understanding of the ways the content supports schools to implement the CES Common Principles and thoughtful application of facilitation techniques aimed at supporting adult learning. Questions? Email fallforum@essentialschools.org.

ASCD Partnering with U.S. Department of Education to provide Teacher Impact Grants

The application process for ASCD Teacher Impact Grants will open on Monday, May 16, and teacher leaders can submit their proposal at www.ascd.org/teacherimpactgrants. Grant proposals will be evaluated by a group of peer reviewers selected by ASCD, the U.S. Department of Education, and the National Board. Grant amounts will range from $5,000 to $15,000 and will fund teacher leadership projects that will be implemented during the 2016-17 academic year.


Teach to Lead Summit, Minneapolis, MN July 23-24, 2016

The deadline to for submissions to be considered for the Teach to Lead Minneapolis Summit is 11:59pm ET on May 23, 2016. Educators are welcome to apply as individuals or as a team. There is no registration cost for the summit, and lodging is provided at no cost to those living more than 50 miles from the Summit hotel. They also provide breakfast and lunch. Participants selected must pay their own travel costs. Teacher Leaders may submit ideas to participate in the summit online using this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JSQF5DM
